Born in Innisfail, North Queensland in 1946, Tom McAulay studied briefly under Arthur Evan Read and Andrew Sibley. His travels around Australia inspired his depictions of characters of the bush, bird life, the outback, and country race tracks. In 1990 he was commission by Prime Minister Bob Hawke to complete a series of paintings of Australians in sport. He has been successfully painting and exhibiting in galleries all over Australia for over 50 years.
