Emma Walker was born Sydney in 1969. She was awarded a Diploma of Fine Arts from the National Art School, Sydney in 1992 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National Art School, Sydney in 2000. Working in oil and mixed media on linen and canvas she creates abstract compositions through layering of paint. She held her first solo exhibition in Sydney in 1991 and since then has continued to exhibit in that city and in Melbourne. She has participated in group exhibitions since 1986 in Sydney , Jakarta, Melbourne, Hong Kong, and regional New South Wales. She has been a finalist in the Paddington Art Prize in 2008, 2010, 2013, and 2017 and won the Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award at the Grafton Regional Gallery in New South Wales in 2014.
