Born in Sydney, Ethel Stephens was one of the first pupils at the Julian Ashton School in Sydney. A floral and landscape artist woking oils, she is known to have exhibited with Art Society of NSW in 1893. She later studied in Paris at La Grand Chaumier and exhibited at the Paris Salon in the 1920s.
