About Bess [Edith Alice Bessie] Golding
Edith Alice Bessie Golding (nee Lawrence) was born Southport UK in 1885. She arrived in Melbourne in 1915 and was widowed a year later. She supported her two children with her art, mainly watercolours and miniatures and exhibited regularly in Melbourne with the Victorian Artists Society from 1917-25 and at other venues. She also painted for the Countess of Stradbrooke. She remained in Melbourne until 1936, when presumably she returned to the United Kingdom.
