Gloria J. Galvin was born in Lakemba N.S.W., she took up painting under the tuition of Gordon Cannon. From there, she moved to the country living at Bathurst, Parkes and the South Coast, at Kangaroo Valley. Gloria continued to paint whenever she could spare the time. In 1978, Galvin moved with her family to the Hawkesbury District where she began to paint on a full time basis.
