About Lewis Miller
Born in Melbourne in 1959, Lewis Miller studied at the Victorian College of the Arts between 1977 and 1982 and post Graduate studies there in 1981-82. In 1984 he travelled to the UK and Europe and on his return he taught drawing at the Victorian College of the Arts and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Lewis Miller won the Hugh Ramsay Portrait Prize in 1982, the Art Gallery of New South Wales Archibald Prize in 1998, and the Daily Telegraph’s Sporting Portrait Prize in 2000. He has been a finalist three times in the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize. In 2003 he was appointed an official war artist in Iraq. A painter and part-time drawing teacher, he has exhibited his work in Melbourne since 1986, and also exhibits in Sydney and Brisbane.
