About Dora Toovey
Born in New South Wales in 1898, Toovey studied at the Royal Art Society School in Sydney, the National Gallery School in Melbourne and the Academie Julian in Paris. In 1924 she married artist James R. Jackson. A portrait and landscape artist working in oils, she won the Portia Geach Memorial Award in 1970 and 1978 and has won many prizes in provincial New South Wales.
