Born on 16 October 1956 in Delft, Zuid-Holland, Matthys Gerber arrived in Australia in 1971. He studied at Julian Ashton Art School, Hornsby Technical College and was awarded a Master of Fine Arts by the University of New South Wales in 1993. A teacher and painter, his work has been shown at the Contemporary Art Centre of South Australia, Adelaide in 1998 and at the Musem of Contemporary Art Australia in Sydney in 2015, and has been included in numerous group shows in Australia and overseas in China. He lives and works in Sydney.
