Born in New South Wales in 1936, Reinhard studied at National Art School from 1954 to 1956 and the Sydney Teachers College in 1957, and is a painter, drawer, printmaker and sculptor . Best known for his pop art, he has exhibited widely and is represented in several state and provincial galleries. He has held many art related appointments including teaching at the National Art School in 1968, Dean of the School of Art at Alexander Mackie of Advanced Education and Director of the City Art Institute from 1982 to 1989, now both part of the University of New South Wales Art & Design. He exhibited in Sydney in the 1970s and 1980s, and then resumed exhibiting from 2001. A 50 year retrospective of his work was held in Melbourne in 2005.
