Born in Berlin, Germany in 1928, Mark Strizic arrived in Australia in 1950. He studied physics at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, but gradually turned to photography and painting. He taught photography at tertiary level in Melbourne from 1978, and in 1984 he became a full time artist, photographer and designer. He soon developed a reputation for his architectural and industrial photography, undertaking commissions for companies such as BHP, Humes Limited and McPhersons, and being the photographer of choice for several modernist architects, including Robin Boyd. The winner of a number of photographic awards and grants, he has exhibited his work widely since 1958.
