Colina Grant was born in Sydney in 1942 immediately after leaving school, studied at the National Art School while working in a commercial art studio in Sydney. She is a figurative, still life, landscape and portrait artist working in all mediums but it is the medium of pastel (the only self-taught one) for which she is best known. She taught for over 30 years at institutions that include the Parramatta Evening College and Charles Sturt University at Bathurst. She has been awarded the Combined Art Societies' Artist of the Year nine times since its inauguration in 1993, and is a Fellow of the Royal Art Society of NSW, .a Master Pastellist of the Pastel Society of Australia, and a Life Member of Parramatta Art Society.
