The great-grandson of Julian Ashton, Delprat was born in Sydney in 1942. He attended the Julian Ashton School in 1962. He is a painter, sculptor and a teacher at Sydney and N.S.W Universities, Newington College, and the Australian Independent International School in the 1960s and 1970s. He has held over 20 solo exhibitions in Sydney, and also exhibited in London, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Newcastle. His work has been selected for the Art Gallery of New South Wales Archibald, Sulman and Wynne Exhibitions.He was appointed Principal of the Julian Ashton School in 1988, a position he still held in 2020. He inaugurated the school’s Scholarship Program, commencing with the Sir William Dobell Scholarship sponsored by The Sir William Dobell Foundation. has held a number of one-man exhibitions. His work is represented in many private collections.
