Robert Sidney Cocks, commonly known as Sidney, was born in Bathurst, New South Wales in 1866. An Australian watercolour artist, Cocks painted scenes of the New South Wales south coast and the Blue Mountains. He first exhibited with the Art Society of New South Wales in 1894 and then spasmodically until 1902. Two of his paintings, Surf and Sunshine Shower were shown at the Art in London exhibition at the Grafton Gallery in 1898, and four of his works were chosen for inclusion in the 1898 Exhibition of Australian Art in London.
