Charles Henry Hunt was born in England in 1857 and trained as an artist at Hatherley's School in London. After arriving in Australia c1878, Hunt worked as an Illustrator in Sydney and became a foundation member of the Art Society of New South Wales in the 1880s with whom he exhibited for many years.
We have records of art auction sales by Charles Hunt from 1973 and in total 45 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 28 (62%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $9,600 for The Travelling Artist sold by Sotheby's in November 2002.
