Born in the USSR in 1933, Leonid Vasin (Chinese name Yang Ming Shen) studied and lectured in art at tertiary level in China. He migrated to Australia and began exhibiting his paintings in Victoria from the early 1980s with societies such as the Association of Chinese Artists. Vasin paints realist and impressionist landscapes, and portraits. He is a member of the Royal South Australian Society of Arts, where he exhibits, and also exhibited in Victoria in the 1980s.
