Born in Victoria in 1928, Wes Walters studied architecture at the Gordon Institute of Technology. He has exhibited different styles of painting, from photo-realist nudes to atmospheric landscapes. His 1979 Art Gallery of New South Wales Archibald Prize-winning portrait of Phillip Adams, the media personality, caused a press controversy in 1980 and was a finalist in the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize in 1988 and 1990. In 2001 he held his exhibition of abstract works in 2001.
