Born about 1808, Admiral Sir Cyprian Arthur George Bridge was a British Royal Navy officer sailed to New Zealand in 1845 in command of a British regiment to take part in the war in the north. Sketches he made during the campaign appeared in James Cowan's The New Zealand Wars 1922. Bridge left New Zealand in 1858 and died in 1883.
