About John Irvine
John Irvine was born in Berwick, Scotland. He is listed as an associate of the Royal Scottish Academy and exhibited at the Royal Academy specialising in portraits. He later emigrated to Australia in 1863 and eventually settled in Dunedin as a professional artist. He painted many portraits of the Provincial Council and is listed as a Dunedin artist 1864-1886.
