Born in Laura, South Australia in 1908, Wood studied at the South Australian School of Art and in London at the Anglo-French Art Centre and the Southampton Row School of Arts. He held several exhibitions before he moved to Europe in 1938 living mainly in Portugal. He visited Australia in 1957 but then returned to Portugal, where he died in 1970. A retropspective of his work was held in Adelaide in 1971.
