Born in Melbourne on September 19, 1902, Henry Rayner studied in Melbourne and at the Royal Academy School, London. Principally an etcher, he emigrated to Europe in 1924, his work coming to prominence when HM Queen Mary purchased a copy of his etching of HM King George lV. Rayner's works are represented in several major English collections. Apart from a six month visit to Australia, he lived in London for the remainder of his life where he died in 1957.
