Born in Victoria in 1942, Tony Coleing studied at the National Art School in Sydney. He travelled to Europe in 1963 to study painting and sculpture and returned in 1968. He began to concentrate on sculpture, although he produced a limited number of lithographs with sculptural themes. The winner of the 1971 Flotta Lauro Prize for Sculpture, Coleing has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Coleing is also a prolific printmaker, often in collaboration with other artists.
