Born in Adelaide in 1962 Jim Thalassoudis studied painting at South Australian School of Arts from 1980 to 1984 and part time in 1985. In 1988 he was awarded a Bachelor of Art, Visual Art from the South Australian School of Arts. He is a landscape painter known for his depiction of sunsets, but is also known for his paintings of fluorescent neon signs. In 1990 he was awarded South Australian Department of the Arts Project Grant and in 2001 was an awarded Australia Council Grant and an an ARTS SA Grant. His first solo exhibition was in 1985, and since then held over 40 exhibitions in Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Canberra, and overseas in Hong Kong and Singapore.
