Born in Waterloo County, Canada, Ellinore Ginn studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and Heatherly's School in London. She arrived in New Zealand in 1947 living near Wellington, where she became known for her fantasy style paintings. She exhibited in commercial galleries, mainly in Wellington from 1956 to 1996, and at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts from 1956 to 1958. In 1993 she was awarded the Queen's Service Medal (QSM) in the New Years Honours list.
