Born in Coromandel, New Zealand in 1936, Stanley Palmer studied at Dunedin Technical College in the late 1950s. A painter and printmaker, his first exhibition was in 1958, and in 1969 he was awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Art Council grant, at which time he became a full time artist. He has held numerous solo exhibitions in the main cities of New Zealand.
Stanley Palmer is one of the most prolific of the artists listed in our database, with the number of works offered for sale by auction since 1990 of 1,100, of which 957 (87%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $43,292 for Untitled sold by Webb's in August 2022. This year 20 works have been offered for sale.
