Born in Adelaide in 1952, Elizabeth Gower studied art in Melbourne and in Europe. An abstract painter and tertiary level teacher, she has exhibited widely since her first solo show in Melbourne in 1975. Gower has won several art awards including an overseas travel grant in 1975. She was artist-in-residence in an Italian institution in 1983.
We have records of art auction sales by Elizabeth Gower from 1996 and in total 19 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 18 (95%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $4,700 for Untitled sold by Shapiro Auctioneers in May 2002. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023. Works by Elizabeth Gower are held by the National Gallery of Victoria, National Gallery of Australia and a further seven major public national galleries (see list below).
