Born in New Zealand in 1941, Mike Green came to Australia with his parents in 1945. Largely self taught he is a realist painter of old buildings and the local scene, using watercolours and inks. He lived in Canada from 1966 to 1973, and in Boston from 1980 to 1992. He has exhibited in Melbourne, Adelaide and in the USA.
The earliest auction listing we have for Mike Green is in 1988 and in total 74 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 47 (64%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $4,080 for Bed Painting and Two Chairs - with Suitcases sold by Sotheby's in August 2002. This year one work has been offered for sale. Works by Mike Green are held by the National Gallery of Australia.
