Born in England in 1860, Henry Hopwood spent two years in Australia from 1888. He studied at Julian's in Paris and in Manchester and Antwerp. He was an associate of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour and became a full member in 1908. Hopwood died in Edinburgh in 1914. His work is represented in the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Tate Gallery, London.
