Peter Boggs was born in New Zealand in 1949 and studied at the Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland from 1969-72 and also was awarded a Diploma of Teaching, Auckland Secondary Teacher's College in 1972. He lectured in painting and drawing in Spain, England and Auckland from 1973 to 1981. In 1980 he was the recipient of Carnegie Travelling Scholarship and travelled to Australia, an then moved to Australia permanently in 1987. He first exhibited in Auckland in 1974 but after his move to Australia he has mainly exhibited in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide and Perth, holding over 50 solo exhibitions to 2020. He was the Winner of the Tattersall's Club Landscape Art Prize in 1998 and has been a finalist in the Finalist, Fleurieu Biennale Art Prize, South Australia in 2002, 2004 and 2006 and the winner of the Kedumba Drawing Award, NSW in 2004 and 2006.

We have records of art auction sales by Peter Boggs from 2002 and in total 51 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 41 (80%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $4,909 for Steps to the Garden, (Arezzo) sold by Shapiro Auctioneers in November 2021.
