Daughter of well known British artist, George F. Harris, Pixie O'Harris was born in Wales in 1903. She came to Australia with her parents, and illustrated her first book at the age of 16. She has since illustrated books by Australian authors Frank Dalby Davidson, C.J. Dennis and Ruth Bedford. She has held several successful solo exhibitions and during decorated more than 50 schools and children's institutions with her works.
The earliest auction listing we have for Pixie O'Harris is in 1973 and in total 103 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 77 (75%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,387 for Suppertime in the Warren sold by Leonard Joel in August 2001. This year one work has been offered for sale. Works by Pixie O'Harris are held by the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria and Art Gallery of Western Australia.
