Born in Ireland in 1889, Mary Troy studied at the Sorbonne in Paris and exhibited in London at the Royal Academy between 1937 and 1942. She taught in New South Wales from about 1935 to 1953. Troy exhibited from 1958 in Sydney and she was a finalist in the 1951 NSW Jubilee Art Competition. In 1952 she had entries in both the Wynne Prize and the Archibald Prize. Her work is represented at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
