About Chen Ping
Chen Ping was born in 1962 Shantou, Guangdong, China. He studied art at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art, Guangzhou, and was granted a Certificate in 1981 and then undertook further studies at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art for a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Education) in 1985. He arrived Australia 1994 and completed further study at the School of Art, University of Tasmania, Hobart, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) degree in 1997. An abstract artist, he has held solo exhibitions in Hobart, Sydney, Melbourne, New York, los Angeles, Beijing and Hongkong. He has received several grants from Arts Tasmania and in 2005 was a finalist in the Glover Prize administered by the John Glover Society in Evandale, Tasmania. He lives and works in Beijing and Hobart, and is a prominent supporter of cultural and artistic events in Hobart.
