Born in Adelaide in 1943, Julian Wigley studied architecture at the University of Melbourne, with post graduate studies in film and television. A painter, writer and cartoonist, Wigley is the son of artist, James Wigley (1917 - 1999). He travelled through the Northern Territory, an experience which is reflected in his paintings, and from which he wrote and illustrated a number of books. Wigley has exhibited his work since 1982, and is represented in the Museums and Art Galleries of the Northern Territory and La Trobe University in Melbourne.
