Born in Sydney in 1962 Ildiko Kovacs studied at St George College, Sydney in 1978 and the National Art School in 1979 and 1980. An abstract painter she held her first solo exhibition in Sydney in 1988 and since then has exhibited in many solo and group shows in Melbourne, Sydney Adelaide and Darwin. In 2015 she won the $80,000 Bulgari Award at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $87,840 for Boot sold by Bonhams in March 2013. This year one work has been offered for sale.
