Born in New South Wales in 1917, Jack Lynn has had no formal art training. His abstract paintings incorporate a wide use of collage of all types, including wood, sand and rope. As a journalist and critic he worked for several Sydney-based daily newspapers and magazines, including the 'Bulletin' 'Quadrant' and 'Art International'. He was editor of 'Art and Australia' and a regular contributor to 'Art in Australia'. He was also the curator of Sydney's Power Gallery of Contemporary Art.
