About Jenny Wimperis
Born in the United Kingdom in 1838, Jenny Wimperis studied extensively in Europe and arrived in New Zealand in about 1880. A member of the Dunedin Art Club, she painted watercolours, and gave private art lessons. She returned to England in 1904, but continued to send her work back to be exhibited with the Otago Art Society.
The total number of works by Jenny Wimperis offered for sale by auction since 1990 is 29, of which 27 (93%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $4,170 for View of Southern Alps sold by Dunbar Sloane in August 2003. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2022. Works by Jenny Wimperis are held by the Christchurch Art Gallery, Auckland Art Gallery and Museum Of New Zealand.
