Born in Darwin in 1965 Melinda Harper studied at Victorian College of the Arts. A teacher and painter she is known for her colourful lineal paintings, working in a variety of media including drawing, collage, photography and screen printing and embroidery. She has exhibited widely in Australia and overseas, with her first solo exhibition in Melbourne in 1987. In 2015 she exhibited at the Heide Museum of Modern Art in Melbourne.
We have records of art auction sales by Melinda Harper from 2000 and in total 261 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 183 (70%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $19,200 for Untitled sold by Lawson~Menzies (now trading as Menzies) in June 2008. This year 5 works have been offered for sale. Works by Melinda Harper are held by the Heide Museum of Modern Art, Monash University Museum of Art and a further seven major public national galleries (see list below).
