Henry Ambrose Scrivener was a naval officer and sketcher who visited Sydney and New Zealand between 1861 and 1862. Whilst in Sydney he sketched in pencil or watercolour over pencil Government House, Woolloomooloo Bay, Sydney Harbour from Garden Island and the entrance to Port Jackson and in New Zealand he sketched views of Auckland. Between 1878 – 1881 he produced pencil and watercolour views of Peru, Chile, Paraguay, Mexico and Panama, and Tahiti.
