Born in London in 1937, John Witcombe studied at Beckenham School of Art, Kent, England and following National Service in Cyprus he undertook further study at the Royal College of Art London in printmaking-film and TV. After arriving in Australia he taught at the Gordon Institute of Technology Geelong and later at the W.A Institute of Technology and the Edith Cowan University, W.A. John Witcombe has held exhibitions in Australia, Fiji, England, and taught and worked in remote Australian locations, He has also managed publication, and design studios.

Since 1970 we have recorded only one work being sold at auction by this artist, which was in 1996.
