Born in London in 1933, Churcher studied at Sutton School of Art, Slade School and University College London before coming to Australia in 1957. He taught at Central Technical College Brisbane and Brisbane Flying Art School. He was a foundation member and vice-president of the Contemporary Art Society of Queensland. Known for portraits and figure studies he exhibited in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Canberra between 1969 and 2006.
