Born in 1868, Hardy Tiarks studied at Hatherleys Art School in London and arrived in Melbourne in 1900. A landscape and sporting painter, he exhibited with the Victorian Art Society. Until 1917 he signed his work 'G. A. Tiarks', using 'Hardy' thereafter. He died in 1951.
