Leslie Oliver was born in 1954 in Leeton, New South Wales. He studied for both a Bachelor of Arts from Alexander Mackie College of Fine Art (University of New South Wales) from 1977 to 1981 and a Bachelor of Arts in Film & Television Directing from the Australian Film Television and Radio School from 1982 to 1986. As well as his interest and work in film and television, he is known as a sculptor working with copper, steel and wood and has taught at tertiary level in both disciplines. He has held solo exhibitions in Sydney, Canberra and Los Angeles since 1990 and contributed to group exhibtions since 1973. He received commissions from Qantas Airlines for Hong Kong International Airport and the International Business and First Class Lounges, Sydney the latter in collaboration with Sokquon Tran.
