Born in Melbourne in 1927 Helen Maudsley grew up in South Yarra and studied at National Gallery of Victoria School in Melbourne from 1945 to 1947 and during the 1960s she gained a Graduate Diploma in Fine Art from the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne. She has held solo exhibitions regularly since 1957, and her work has been included in many group shows. The was the wife of fellow artist John Brack (1920-99).
