Born in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1943, Murray Grimsdale studied at the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts from 1959-63. He then travelled to the UK where studied and worked, returning to New Zealand in 1974. A figurative and landscape painter, and a sculptor working in bronze and terracotta, and an illustrator he has also lived and worked in Fiji.
