Born in Victoria in 1922, Paul Fitzgerald studied at the National Gallery of Victoria School and in Europe. He became known as a portrait painter and painted such notables as HM The Queen and Sir Robert Menzies. He was president of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists from 1974-1981.
