Darren Wardle's art education included a studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art (Painting), Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University 1989 – 1991, a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art, Honours (Painting), Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University 1997 and a Masters of Fine Art by Research, Victorian College of the Arts, The University of Melbourne 2013 – 2014. A hyper-realist artist, he has held about 21 solo exhibitions between 1990 and 2017 in Melbourne, Sydney and New York, and participated in numerous group exhibitions. He has been awarded three Australia Council for the Arts residencies: Los Angeles, 2004; New York in 2007 and Leipzig, Germany in 2019.
