A Sydney artist, Ruby Winkler was a student of the Julian Ashton School and Sydney Long’s Sydney Art School in 1908. She was a member of the Royal Art Society of New South Wales and exhibited with the NSW Society of Artists. Ruby Winckler spent some time in America after accepting a commission to illustrate two books The Arabian Night's Entertainment and S.S. Vanderbilt's Who's Who in the Land of Nod, both published in 1915 in Boston.
