Ramon Horsfield was born in Hobart in 1930 and studied at the Alexander Ker Studio, Melbourne, With H. Septimus Power from 1945 to 1947 and at the National Gallery Art School. He has worked as an art teacher at secondary level, as a set designer for television and theatre. He became a member of the Twenty Melbourne Painters group in 1972 and a Council Member of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists in 1978. A traditional painter in oils of Australian landscapes, he first exhibited in 1951 and since then exhibited regularly, mainly in Victoria.
