Born in the United Kingdom in 1932, Mac Betts studied in London before taking a job as painting and drawing teacher in Northern Nigeria. He moved to Perth in 1970 where he taught art at the West Australian Institute of Technology. Since 1981 he has worked full-time as a painter and is best known for his semi- abstract paintings of the West Australian landscape.
