Born in London in 1946, Peter Wichman arrived in New Zealand in 1960. He completed an MA in English at Victoria University and an MLitt in Oxford, and studied drawing and painting at the Waikato Society of Arts. He is a portrait and figurative painter working in oil, acrylic and collage, and a printmaker. He exhibited in solo shows in Auckland between 2005 and 2016. A literary historian as well as a painter, Wichman has tutored and lectured in both English literature and art.
