Born in London in 1963 Matthew Johnson arrived in Australia in 1975. From 1982 to 1984 he completed Higher Art Certificate, National Art School, Sydney. A colourful abstract painter he had his first solo exhibition in Melbourne in 1985 and since then he has particpated in group and solo shows in eastern Australia, and overseas including Paris Berlin, Auckland, New York and Hong Kong. He has won a number of prizes and residencies in Australia and overseas, including in Barcelona and Paris.
